The final papers have been signed to return the training requirements to 2010. We have been notified by DSHS that we will no longer be teaching Core Basics. Orientation and Safety will only be available to Individual Providers who are out of compliance and cannot get their training through the Training Partnership. We have suspended all Core Basic Training at this point because we are awaiting a memo from the state that will return the training requirements to the 2010 classes. What this means is we will return to teaching the 28 hour Revised Fundamentals of Care class instead of the HCA training components (Core Basic, Population Specific, and Orientation & Safety.) Quite a few calls have been coming in requesting clarification on what steps need to be taken with new hires in assisted living communities.  The steps are actually the same for the AFH so I prepared a quick cheat sheet for an ALF in Friday Harbor and thought maybe it might help some others.  Remember that this is only a guide.  You will have other things you will need to add based on your company  policy or individual situation.  But at least,... The House will be reviewing legislation related to I-1029 during their session on 2/23/2011. Right now this is their recommendation: HB 1548/SB 5473 – Concerning delay of the training and certification requirements for long‐term care workers. Over 200 people attended this webinar presented by the DSHS, DOH and Prometrics. All three entities have developed comprehensive websites to assist the public with understanding and implementation of the new rules related to Initiative 1029.
